So I gave you sweet Lorelei and Strom feels... and, well, now here are some angsty ones. I don't really have much to say about this piece beyond that it was depressing drawing it, and my favorite part was doing the ghost-y-ness textures. For those of you who don't know, Lorelei & Strom were married, and she died with early pregnancy complications. She's a siren ((hence the music)) and Strom is the Creature from the Black Lagoon. For more info feel free to read the description in this piece here.
Saturday Pancakes is a short little ficlet thing that also kinda goes with this piece if you are interested.
This should go without saying but please do NOT use this artwork or these characters unless you ask explicitly ask me. This is not meant to be a base so please do not trace or recolor it. I'll be disappoint. +5 awesome points if you get the reference
Yay~! I love comments. And stalkers Thanks so much, and a glow through the window was exactly what I was going for! Though it's a little hard to tell because Lorelei's kinda glowing too, so it all just meshes together. I'm glad you like it
Thanks so much, the story is really personal (not me but a family member) and I'm glad you could feel the emotion in the piece And not at all, I had no idea what the song "Eight Melodies" was from but I looked it up, and sure. I mean why not? The picture speaks to you the way it does, and I have no right to dictate your brains actions I suppose, when i think about it, the song that it reminds me of is "Give Me Love" by Ed Sheeran ((at least that's the song that was playing on repeat for the majority of the drawing process )).
Oh gosh, this is so beautiful, yet so darn sad! His anguish definitely shows through the pose and Lorelei looks gorgeous, even when dead. Strangely enough, I'm really drawn to her eyes here; did you do something different with them? That blue ghostly appearance oddly fits her well too. And you have no idea how bittersweet it is to see he still wears his wedding ring after all these years. Now for some happy please?
Would it be too much to ask for a happy ending where she exists in the MH world as a ghost and Strom knows it? And while difficult to touch, can still speak to each other? The sadness of lost love and death is just reinforced with this picture and kills me.
Thank you ^^ And no, I haven't done anything different with the eyes ((besides from giving them pupils )). Her eyes are exactly the same--well as exact as I could make it--to the other Lorelei eyes :/ But maybe it's because I added another eyelid wrinkle thingy, so it looks more like like the gaze is gentle and relaxed, and I didn't put any make-up on her Maybe that's it? For some happy? Lols, I could give you Strom and the Kiddies interacting
And it is kind of a happy ending already, if you really think about it. I believe that ghosts have unfinished business that they need to attend to, and thus forgo going into the afterlife. And once that business is finished, their original choice of becoming a ghost, prevents them from moving on. ((So her ghostly-ness is basically her spirit essence in this picture)). Lorelei is at peace and able to move on, and Strom...even though distraught by her passing, eventually learns to keep living. He talks to her every night before he goes to sleep, but the pain has dulled with time. And Cliff still occasionally misses his mama ((Reid doesn't remember her)) but the lack of a mother in their life is made up tenfold by Strom's devotion and love.
Yes please! Dunno if it should be saved for closer to Halloween, but I'd LOVE to see the kids and their daddy dressed as superheroes one day. Or perhaps Strom "teaching" the boys how to save "damsels in distress" like a superhero, aka mom. Okay, admittedly corny idea. Would love to see Strom and the kiddos interacting, no matter how you do it. <3
All I have to add to that last line is, "and Mara." 'Nuff said. XD
YES! And costumes for all! Costumes and dress-up has been a not-so-secret love of mine since I was little; still love them even today. Maybe that's where my love of theater came from. Though I digress. Would the Bloodgoods even bother with costumes? Marah I see as either not doing that sort of thing, or dressing as an old book character that hardly anyone her age would read.
Oh, and let me just say the mental picture of tiny Malachi and Marcus interacting like that is making me grin. It simply must be done, but can I wait till Halloween to see it?
Sorry i didnt pay attention! Its really sad though! I hope things get better for them! Oh, and im going to take this chance to say how great an artist you are! I can only dream of doing stuff like these! Keep up the good work!
Oh it's not a problem at all It's just people who read descriptions are more privy to story details than those who just look take the picture at face-value. Thank you so much! And you can totally do stuff like this with practice. ^^ Its the sort of long tedious journey everyone hates, but is thrilled with the results ((like doing yoga for flexibility)).
